Goodbye 3-PK, hello VPK!

Janna's school has a graduation celebration every year for those progressing on into kindergarten. The kiddos in the younger classroom (which includes Janna) all participate in the "show." However, they don't get to graduate, the parents just get to enjoy the singing and dancing.

I have to say that this graduation was one of the funniest things Jeff and I have done in some time. The staff at the school did a good job letting the little personalities shine, and there were a few kids that really stole the show. My two favorites included a little boy who whooped it up "Rocky" style when he got his "diploma" and another who said he wanted to be a "police officer and a farmer" when he grew up because then he would have "a tractor and a gun."

More May..

May is probably one of the busiest in our house. What with Jeff wrapping up the semester, me wrapping up the semester, and the weather turning nice....it makes for a lot of activity.


In the month of May, Jeff's parents showed up for a visit.

Also in May was the hurricane that wasn't. We got a total of between 22 and 23 inches of rain.








Beyond that...we did a lot of work. Not much play! Hopefully June will bring more activity.

Happy Mother's Day

Although I don't have a ton of pictures from the weekend - it was a perfect! I spent Friday evening managing the house so I would have little left to do over the weekend. Then, on Saturday, I got a massage, did some shopping, and came home. My goal was to get everyone dressed and ready for some photos in the backyard. This was what I got:
So much for family photos. I actually had us all sitting down and ready to go, when Jeff started complaining about the sun being in his eyes. I could handle the kids complaining, but when Jeff starts in, I'm outnumbered. I ended the photo shoot, sad that I didn't get my pictures in.

Well, Jeff and Janna both ended up feeling bad. Janna repaid me by taking some individual photos. Or maybe she was trying to get ice cream. Whatever, I got some pictures.

And that's about it. Aside from the photography disaster, the weekend went pretty well. At least Sunday did, which was the important day. I got to sleep in, Jeff took the kids out and got bagels, I didn't do any work (not laundry or dishes or cleaning)....and then we got to go out to the new Japanese Steak house. Even better? The kids did GREAT at dinner. Janna tried everything I asked her to try, and she gobbled up the shrimp without any complaints. She also really liked the miso soup. A major score with our very picky eater.

Miscellaneous April Photos

First we have some from Janna's swimming lessons. She's doing SO well. For some reason, the ability to swim is one of the things I am proudest of. Probably because my own parents put a pretty high significance on it. At any rate, Janna can swim on her front and back, and roll over to one or the other on her own! She's also floating (a big thing for her, it took a long time to convince her that was ok). The problem we're having now is getting her to do more than one thing at a time. She can kick, stroke, and take a breath - but not in succession.

Planting our garden. These were some cute little cups I picked up at Lowes. I had LOW expectations for them - which is good, because only about half sprouted. However, we still have pumpkins, sunflowers, and watermelon going out in back!
